Closure of Castle Walk, Bridgnorth between Bridgnorth Cliff Railway and library steps

Works which began on 3 February 2020 to repair a section of Castle Walk, Bridgnorth retaining wall, from between Bridgnorth Cliff Railway and Bridgnorth Library steps, will continue under a closure of the footpath from today (Tuesday 14 April 2020). The works are expected to be completed by Tuesday 28 April 2020.

Works will continue to an area of approximately 80m of Castle Walk retaining wall from the Cliff Railway, involving taking down a 20m loose section of cast iron rails, masonry repair to the retaining wall below, including rebuilding of several brick piers and stitching of brick work, replacement of damaged pier caps to the railings support posts, and re-erection of the cast iron rails for approximately 80m.

Other works include realigning the existing drainage channel, and resurfacing areas of the footpath.

While the footpath is closed pedestrians will be diverted along West Castle Street and back on to Castle Hill Walk.
