Bridgnorth: Flood and support UPDATE

Related topics: Community / Highways, transport and environmental maintenance / Public protection

Shropshire Council continues to work with partners to ensure the safety of people in Bridgnorth and to offer support and advice to residents and businesses already or likely to be affected by flooding.

Reception centre and community support

The reception centre that was opened at Castle Hall has now been closed. Staff from Shropshire Council and Bridgnorth Town Council were on hand to offer advice and support to those affected by the flooding. If you do require support please call on 0345 678 9006.

Staff from Shropshire Council followed on from yesterday and continued to door knock in communities to speak with residents and businesses. They were giving information about the rising river levels and the flood risk, and telling them to be prepared as water may enter their properties.

Adult social care community teams were also working hard to support all potentially vulnerable people affected by the flooding. Housing officers are available to support with temporary accommodation requests where required.

Residents and businesses can access sandbags at Bridgnorth Highways at Kier Stourbridge Road Depot (next to the salt barn), WV15 6AN.

Sandbags will also be available at the corners of Doctors Lane and Mill Street, and Doctors Lane and Bandon Lane. Sandbags will be left outside for people to collect.

3,100 sandbags have been handed out in Bridgnorth to residents and businesses preparing for the risk of flooding, which includes 800 over the past two days. Over 10,200 have been distributed across the county.
