Acton Scott Historic Working Farm is one of the jewels in Shropshire’s crown; a real working farm that gives a unique insight into country life before mass mechanisation and monoculture – and the perfect setting for a brand-new festival: FOLK at the Farm.

This coming Saturday, 20 July, Acton Scott hosts musicians, storytellers, poets, dancers, artists and makers in a celebration of some of the less-remembered aspects of local country life and culture.  Language and lore, tunes, superstitions, skills and crafts are all part of ‘Folk’ history and have helped to define our very special region.

Within the enchanting location of Acton Scott Historic Working Farm, with its pigs, poultry, cattle, sheep and heavy horses, FOLK at the Farm offers a full day’s programme of activities for adults and children: a special ‘Family Paddock’ with lots to make and do; musicians all around the site; a host of stories for young and old; poetry and writing workshops; talks; demonstrations of crafts and skills; food, drink and tempting things to buy; Morris dancing; encounters and surprises – and a chill-out zone for relaxation!
