Video seeks to attract country’s best children’s social workers to Shropshire

A video featuring some of Shropshire Council’s children’s social workers explaining what they enjoy most about their jobs is being used to help attract new recruits to the team.

Shropshire Council is currently recruiting experienced children’s social workers, and it is hoped that the video will encourage potential applicants to apply, by giving them an insight into why Shropshire is a great place to live and work and develop their careers.

The video features some of the council’s social workers explaining why they like their jobs, why they enjoy working for Shropshire Council, and why they think Shropshire is a great place to live and work.

Karen Bradshaw, director of children’s services, and Francean Doyle, head of early help also feature – outlining why Shropshire – and Shropshire Council – is a great place to be a children’s social worker.

Siobhan Hughes, principal social worker, said:

“Shropshire is a beautiful county and a great place to work and live, and this is an exciting time to join Shropshire Council. Our children’s services were rated as ‘good’ by Ofsted in November 2017 and we are keen to attract the best social workers to help us maintain our effective services to families.”
