News from our partners Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust

The NHS is turning 70 next month and what better way to celebrate one of the nation’s most loved institutions than with a slice of cake and a cup of tea?

But this was more than just a regular brew as on Thursday 7 June and Friday 8 June 2018,  Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH) held a ‘Big 7T’ at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and Telford’s Princess Royal Hospital as a way of saying thank you to its volunteers.

The Trust has more than 800 volunteers and more than 50 of them attended a party held on each site over two days.

Julia Clarke, Director of Corporate Governance, said:

“This is one on my favourite events of the year. Being able to personally thank our volunteers for their care, commitment, kindness and support is really important.”

Two retiring volunteers, Margaret Stickley and Iris Hoof, were presented with a Certificate of Recognition, for their many years of service.

The NHS turn 70 on Thursday 5 July 2018, and SaTH will be celebrating the landmark occasion with a themed Charity Fun Day at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital on Saturday 7 July 2018.
