Waste and recycling collections update – Wednesday 13 December

Related topics: Highways, transport and environmental maintenance

Collection crews are back on the roads and working hard to catch up on collections missed due to the bad weather. Extra crews have been drafted in to catch up on missed collections and crews will be working on Saturday (16 December).

There may be a knock-on effect to collections for the rest of this week – though the advice is to put containers out as normal.

  • If your recycling boxes and bags have not been collected, please take them in as they can be a trip hazard and wait until your next scheduled collection.
  • If your bins haven’t been emptied, leave them out. If we can’t get to you on your scheduled collection day we will come back and collect as soon as it is safe to do so.

Some side streets are still very icy, and so truck drivers will be taking a decision on whether it is safe to enter on a road by road basis – the decision will take account of parked cars, pedestrian safety as well as the safety of the crews.

So, please don’t worry if boxes, bags or bins in your street haven’t been collected, but they have been in a nearby street. Our crews will get to you when it is safe to do so.

The Household Recycling Centres in Bridgnorth, Craven Arms, Oswestry, Shrewsbury and Whitchurch are all open as normal.
