Current status of Shropshire Council buildings: Tuesday 12 December 2017 (12.15pm)

In light of the current weather-related situation, Shropshire Council is open for business as usual, albeit working with skeleton staff. However, as yesterday, there are a number of our public buildings across the county not in operation today, due to continued post-snow icy conditions.

Council buildings OPEN (but some are operating with skeleton staff):

Shrewsbury

  • Shirehall – open until 5pm
  • Shrewsbury Community Hub, 1a Castle Gates  – open
  • Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery – open as normal
  • Shrewsbury Sports Village – currently open; closing at 4pm
  • Quarry Swimming Pool – currently open; closing at 6pm
  • The Gateway – currently open
  • The Lantern – open
  • Mt McKinley – open
  • Ptarmigan Building – open

Oswestry

  • Castle View – open
  • Oswestry Community Hub at Oswestry Library – open. Closing at 4pm today (this detail added when known at 3pm Tuesday)
  • The Centre – open
  • Oswestry Leisure Centre – currently open; closing at 6pm

Bridgnorth and surrounding area

  • Bridgnorth Customer Service point – open
  • Severn Valley Country Park – open

Ludlow

  • Ludlow Customer Service Point (at Ludlow Library) – open until 1pm
  • Ludlow Youth Centre – open

Whitchurch 

  • Whitchurch Customer Service Point at the Civic Centre –open
  • Whitchurch Swimming pool – currently open; closing at 6pm

Ellesmere

  • Our Space day services, Ellesmere – open. Please phone ahead from 3pm onwards, in case of early closure.

Market Drayton

  • Market Drayton Swimming Centre – currently open; closing at 6pm.

Council buildings CLOSED:

Shrewsbury and surrounding area

  • Abbots Wood day services  – closed
  • Aquamira day services – closed
  • Albert Road day services – closed
  • Greenacres farm near Baschurch – closed
  • Shropshire Archives – closed anyway, as part of a planned closure period
  • Shrewsbury Castle – closed

Oswestry

  • Maesbury Metals day services – closed
  • Cornerpatch day services and shop – closed
  • Avalon day services – closed 

Market Drayton 

  • Market Drayton Customer Service Point, Cheshire Street – closed
  • Wayfarers day services – closed

Ludlow 

  • Helena Lane day services – closed

Much Wenlock

  • Much Wenlock Museum – closed anyway on Tuesdays
  • Much Wenlock Leisure Centre – closed

Shifnal

  • Idsall Sports Centre – closed

Libraries

  • Albrighton – open as normal
  • Bayston Hill – open as normal
  • Bishop’s Castle – open 10am-5pm
  • Bridgnorth – open as normal
  • Church Stretton – open 9.30am-4pm
  • Cleobury Mortimer – open
  • Craven Arms – open 9am-5pm
  • Ellesmere – open 10am-4pm
  • Gobowen – open as normal
  • Highley – open as normal
  • Library at The Lantern – open as normal
  • Ludlow – CLOSED
  • Market Drayton – open as normal
  • Oswestry – open as normal
  • Pontesbury – open as normal
