At around 2.30pm yesterday (Thursday 9 November 2017) an HGV came off Soulton Bridge on the B5065 Soulton Road, between Wem and the A49. The HGV landed on its side in the brook, causing significant damage to the bridge, which is a Grade II listed structure. (see picture below).

The road was temporarily closed on Thursday afternoon/evening, and was reopened on Thursday night under two-way traffic lights.

The recovery of the HGV from Soulton Bridge has now been agreed with structures engineers and the recovery company and the recovery will take place tomorrow morning (Saturday 11 November 2017).

The road will be closed between 7.30am and 1pm on Saturday to allow the recovery of the HGV to take place,  and local diversions will be in place.
