Thistleford Bridge between Lee Brockhurst and Aston – road closure from 4 September 2017

Thistleford Bridge between Lee Brockhurst and Aston will be closed to traffic from Monday 4 September 2017 to enable repair work on the bridge.

The repair work is due to last up to two weeks to enable repairs to be carried out to the bridge parapet. The work will involve repairing the damaged parapet blocks, repointing and vegetation removal.

The bridge must be closed to traffic while the repairs are being carried out as the road is too narrow for the work to be carried out safely with the bridge open to traffic.

When the road is closed traffic will be diverted via Aston onto the B5063 then onto the A49 back up to Lee Brockhurst.

Access over the bridge for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will remain available throughout the proposed work.

Steve Davenport, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for highways and transport, said:

“It is appreciated that the bridge closure will cause some inconvenience, and everyone involved will do all that they reasonably can to reopen it as soon as possible.”
