Llanyblodwel Bridge – road closure from 11 September 2017

Llanyblodwel Bridge, which crosses the River Tanat, will be closed for up to four weeks from Monday 11 September 2017 to enable parapet repairs to be undertaken. The work will involve taking down and rebuilding the upstream bridge parapet which was damaged and displaced earlier this year by vehicle impact.

The bridge must be closed to traffic while the repairs are being carried out as the road is too narrow for the work to be carried out safely with the bridge open to traffic.

When the road is closed, traffic will be diverted along local routes which cross over the Shropshire boundary into Powys. Because of the narrow nature of these roads, different routes will be signed for northbound and southbound traffic. Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will remain available at the bridge throughout the work.

Steve Davenport, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for highways and transport, said:

“It is appreciated that the bridge closure will cause some inconvenience, and everyone involved will do all that they reasonably can to reopen it as soon as possible.”
