Fitz Bridge – road closure for two days from Monday 10 July 2017

Fitz Bridge will be closed for up to two days from Monday 10 July 2017 between 9.30am and 4pm to enable parapet repairs to be undertaken.

The bridge carries the road from Montford Bridge to Leaton over the River Perry.

The bridge must be closed to traffic while the repairs are being carried out as the road is too narrow for the work to be carried out safely with the bridge open to traffic.

When the road is closed, traffic will be diverted via Grafton, Yeaton, Walford Heath and Leaton.

Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will remain available at the bridge throughout the work.

Steve Davenport, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for highways and transport, said:

“It is appreciated that the bridge closure will cause some inconvenience, and everyone involved will do all that they reasonably can to reopen it as soon as possible.”
