New home in Bridgnorth adjudged the best new building in the West Midlands

Shropshire builder, Mike Owen of Huramic Builders Ltd, is celebrating after being awarded the ‘Best Individual’ new home category at the recent Local Authority Building Control (LABC) West Midlands awards ceremony held at Telford International Centre on Friday 7 July 2017.

Richard Scott, chairman of LABC, presented the award to Mike after beating off six other rivals from the whole of West Midlands.

He described the building as a one off design, occupying a prime spot on the approach to Bridgnorth, which will be seen by the many thousand visitors to the nearby Severn Valley Railway Station over which it enjoys spectacular views. It incorporates the criteria, including the use of renewables, good working relationships excellent site management with innovation and problem solving during building.

In nominating the building, Alistair Dunning, Shropshire Council’s building control survevor, said:-

“This was an immaculate piece of building and enjoys a high level of compliance.”

Clive Gwilt, also from Shropshire Council’s building control team, that Mike is a conscientious and steadfast builder, and that he deserves the award.

Robert Macey, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for planning and regulation, said:

“This shows that future development in Shropshire is in good hands.  I would like to say thank you to everyone who took part, and congratulations Mike Owen and Huramic Builders Ltd.”

Michael’s dream home, occupied by his parents, will now proceed to be judged at the grand finals to be held in Westminster in November, where it will compete with similar projects from all corners of the UK.
