Shropshire Council building control technician Clive Gwilt won an award at this year’s Local Authority Building Control (LABC) Superstar awards.

Staff from 12 of England and Wales’s local authority building control regions were given LABC Superstar awards at a gala dinner in Leicester on Monday 20 March 2017.

These honours are given every year to celebrate the unique individuals who go that extra mile to support colleagues, delight their customers or protect the public in an exemplary way – in short, people who go above and beyond the call of duty.

“An amazing can do attitude with all clients”

Clive has followed in the footsteps of Melanie Davies in the council’s building control team who won the award in 2016.

Clive said:-

“It gave me great pleasure to accept the 2017 LABC Superstar award for the West Midlands, as Shropshire Council’s building control has given excellent service to all our partners, developers, colleagues and customers.

“As a team we are always dedicated and ensure all dangers to the public are addressed, and everyday support is given to builders, architects, developers and property owners.

“And what makes it more special, my colleagues in development management nominated me.

Ian Kilby, planning services manager, said:-

“I am delighted for Clive to have received this award, it is well deserved. He has a clear, warm and strong customer focus, and building control customers evidently like working with him. Clive is the sort of person who comes up with practical solutions and always works hard to exceed customer expectations.”
