The next Wem and Shawbury LJC meeting is on Tuesday 28 February 2017 at Edinburgh House, Wem, starting at 7pm.

The evening will start with a presentation from Ann Sutcliffe, Executive Director for Neighbourhoods, Shropshire Housing Group. In May 2018 Shropshire Housing Group will open their new development for older or frail people on the site previously occupied by the Westlands Care Home in Wem. Ann will share the latest plans for the development, take questions, and describe the work that is under way to make allocations and manage support for people who will live there.

There will also be a presentation by Mel Duffy, Shropshire Community Health Trust, and Kate Garner, Shropshire Council’s community enablement team, on Shropshire’s Neighbourhoods Care Model, which is made up of three work streams –Resilient Communities; Healthy Lives Programme; and designing and delivering new neighbourhood care models.

Attendees will hear how different teams/organisations are putting all their respective skills and knowledge together to redesign and create the resources that are needed to deliver the right health and well-being services within communities.

The local policing team will also be present to provide an update on local policing and community safety issues.

Councillor Simon Jones, chairman of the LJC, said:

“This is an opportunity for residents to come along and hear about the above topics.  There will also be an opportunity for residents to raise any local issues with LJC members and to suggest agenda items for future meetings.”

Everyone is welcome to attend. For further information please contact Sue Thomas, community enablement officer for the area, on 01743 258537 – email sue.j.thomas@shropshire.gov.uk.
