Children and young people asked for views on health and wellbeing services

Children and young people across Shropshire are being invited to have their say on public health services.

The survey launched today (Monday 12 December 2016) will ask young people about their local School Nursing service and what other public health services they would like support and information on.

The answers from the survey will help inform how both the School Nursing and Health Visitor Services will run in the future and ensure they meet the needs of children and young people.

Councillor Karen Calder, Cabinet Member for Health and Chair of Shropshire’s Health and wellbeing board said;

“In Shropshire, we believe that children and young people are really important and we want to make sure that you are helped to be as healthy and happy as possible and to achieve your full potential. To help with this we are doing a survey to find out what you think about your local School Nurse service and what other health and wellbeing services you may want support and information on.

“It’s only a short survey, so please try and take part as it will be used to help us improve the health of children and young people in Shropshire.”

Councillor David Minnery, Cabinet Member for Children Services added;

“I would really encourage children and young people to take part.  The survey is completely confidential so you can be completely honest. The information you provide will be really helpful in trying to make improvements in the life and wellbeing of young people in your school, your community and across Shropshire.”

The survey is one of three being launched this week to help inform the future of the School Nursing and Health Visitor service which are currently being reviewed to make sure they meet the needs of children and young people in Shropshire. The services commissioned by Shropshire Council’s Children and Young People’s Public Health team, are currently being reviewed and will be going out for tender in the New Year. The other two surveys will be aimed at parents/carers and professionals.
