Free parking will be available in Ludlow’s main car parks on the town’s Tinsel Tuesdays – 6th, 13th and 20th December.

On these days there will be free parking from midday in all main car parks – namely Castle Street, Smithfield and Galdeford, courtesy of Shropshire Council and Ludlow Town Council.

All three Tinsel Tuesdays promise to pack a punch for shoppers, with an interesting array of stallholders matching Ludlow’s many unique independent shops, which all offer something a bit different from most high street chains.

On each of the three Tuesdays there will also be a traditional Christmas gift market, open from 10am to 4pm.

The Christmas Gift Market promises shoppers something a bit special as well as mulled drinks, hot food and live music.

Simon Jones, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for highways and transport, said:

“It’s great that we can once again support the Tinsel Tuesdays and Ludlow’s town centre traders by offering free parking in the agreed Shropshire Council car parks. I hope people take advantage of this offer and make these days extra special for the town, and for its businesses.”

Viv Parry, Ludlow Town councillor and Shropshire Councillor for Ludlow South, said:

“I would like to thank Shropshire Council for allowing Ludlow Tinsel Tuesdays to take place in the lead-up to Christmas this year. The very different shops in Ludlow enable you to sample varied and unusual gifts. With free parking from lunchtime on each Tinsel Tuesday, please spend your day in Ludlow and make this Christmas a very happy one. And don’t just shop – why not bring the family and have a special meal in one of our many and varied restaurants. That’s what Christmas is all about!”

The idea for Tinsel Tuesdays, now in its fifth year, came from the Ludlow Chamber of Commerce’s regular monthly meetings with local businesses.
