Shropshire Council is offering free parking in its long-stay Pay and Display car parks in Bridgnorth for the town’s Christmas lights switch-on this Friday, 18 November 2016, and for late-night shopping on Thursday evenings during December.

The free parking will be available from 2pm this Friday (18 November), and from 4pm on Thursdays 1st, 8th, 15th and 22nd December.

The car parks at which free parking will apply are:

  • Innage Lane
  • Smithfield Road
  • Severn Street

Simon Jones, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for highways and transport, said:

“It’s great that we can once again support the lights switch-on and late-night shopping evenings in Bridgnorth by offering free parking on these days. I hope people take advantage of this offer and make this an extra special Christmas for the town, and for its traders.”

Anne Wilson, Town Clerk to Bridgnorth Town Council quote:

“This time of year is one of the busiest in Bridgnorth and it is important that we all work together to promote the town, making it welcoming and enhance the offer through free parking and community events. The Christmas lighting-up night sees thousands of people come into the town and late night shopping each Thursday is a good idea to encourage and support the ‘Shop Local’ campaign.”

The free Park and Ride service will be operating on Saturday 10 and Saturday 17 December to help alleviate the parking congestion in the town centre.
