The A442 north of Bridgnorth will be closed for repairs from 9.30am this morning (Friday 18 November) following the collapse of a manhole cover yesterday.

The cover is situated in the centre of the road 100 metres south of The Chestnuts at Sutton Maddock.

A signed diversion will be put in place between the A442 and B4176 at Sutton Maddock Island and the A442 and Hermitage Hill at Bandon Island. The diversion route will be the B4176 to Rudge Heath then the A454 back to Bridgnorth, and vice versa.

The work is expected to take around four hours to complete with the closure being removed asap.

Two-way signals were put in place overnight, but the road needs to be closed for repairs to be carried out.

Work is being carried out from 9.30am to avoid the peak-time traffic.
