University Centre Shrewsbury (UCS) students and staff are inviting people to join them for a brew and a slice of cake as part of The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.
Student Holly-Elizabeth Smith is hosting the Coffee Morning on Friday 30 September 2016, to contribute to the nationwide fundraising activities.
The event will run from 10am to 11am in the main lecture room at Guildhall, UCS’ learning and research base at Frankwell Quay, and is one of a range of Welcome Week activities taking place to introduce the newest undergraduates to the town.
Holly said:
“I’m looking forward to hosting this Coffee Morning for a really important cause; the first of ongoing fundraising events we’ll be running this academic year. Do join us for a cuppa and some cake.”
The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is Macmillan’s biggest fundraising event for people facing cancer. People all over the UK are asked to host their own Coffee Mornings, and donations on the day are made to Macmillan. Last year alone the initiative raised £25 million, and this year the charity is aiming to raise even more.
Macmillan provides practical, medical and financial support and pushes for better cancer care. For further information go to www.macmillan.org.uk.
If anyone interested in coming along to the Coffee Morning is able to drop a line to communications@ucshrewsbury.ac.uk in advance, it would be really appreciated.
