A tribute to Mrs Sue Pate

It is with much regret that we report that Mrs Sue Pate, wife of Shropshire Council Leader Malcolm Pate, has passed away.

Those who know Sue will remember her attending functions and supporting Malcolm at civic receptions, but Sue was also an ambassador in her own right.

Her involvement in local government as councillor at parish and district council level; as governor at St Mary’s Infant School for 19 years; as Chairman of Red House village hall, the list goes on.

Her charitable work, which was well known countywide, included Albrighton Charity in Need Trust; past Chairman of Action Research for Crippled Children; past Chairman and founder of Albrighton Young Wives Club, to name but a few.

Sue was a kind, intelligent lady who, even burdened with disability over the last few years, still kept up her current work, mainly from home using her iPad.

Sue loved being around people, and people loved being around Sue. She will be greatly missed. Our thoughts are with Malcolm and his family.
