From discounts and actively participating in Armed Forces Day to supporting the employment of veterans, Reservists and Service spouses, businesses are pledging wide ranging support.
Tim Barker, Shropshire Councillor responsible for the Armed Forces Covenant, said:
“As a former Reservist myself, I am well aware of the disadvantages Armed Forces personnel can face in civilian life so it’s highly encouraging to see more and more Shropshire businesses signing the Covenant and pledging their support to the county’s Armed Forces community.”
David Fairclough, Armed Forces Covenant co-ordinator for Shropshire Council, said:
“To be effective the Covenant requires commitment and co-operation from a wide range of organisations.
“I am delighted at the diversity of local Shropshire businesses who wish to support our Armed Forces. Their generosity and willingness to sign the Armed Forces Covenant is a testament to the growing support our Armed Forces are receiving and we hope this trend continues in the long term.”
Group Captain Jason Appleton, Station Commander at RAF Shawbury said:
“All of us in the Armed Forces would like to thank those businesses that support the Armed Forces Covenants and for all the support from the community that allows us to deliver world-leading training at RAF Shawbury.”
A corporate covenant is a written and publicised voluntary pledge from businesses and charitable organisations who wish to demonstrate their concrete support for the armed forces community.
