Runners of all levels are being invited to don their trainers for this year’s Severn Bridges 10k road race and one mile fun run this autumn, on Sunday 18 September 2016.

The annual event, which will be hosted by Shropshire Council and sponsored by Up and Running, will be held at The Quarry in Shrewsbury and will start at 10am. The event also receives great support from the Shropshire Shufflers who provide the marshals for the event.

Participants are encouraged to sign up in advance either by entering online or sending an application form to Leisure Services, Shropshire Council, Shirehall, Abbey Foregate, Shrewsbury, Shropshire, SY2 6ND. Application forms are available from either Up and Running in Mardol, or Shirehall in Shrewsbury.

For this year’s event there will be no on-the-day entries apart from the one mile fun run. More information about the event can be found be using the following link http://shropshire.gov.uk/leisure/shrewsbury-severn-bridges-road-race/

Charges for the event are:

  • Club runner – £12
  • Non-club runner – £14
  • Fun runner – adult or junior – £2

Stuart West, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for leisure and culture, invited runners young and old to take part in the fun:

“The Severn Bridges event has been a great success in the past and we are hoping for more entries than ever this year. The race has attracted people from all over the country and I would like to thank this year’s event sponsors Up and Running Shrewsbury. I would also like to pass my sincere thanks to the Shropshire Shufflers who have once again agreed to act as marshals for the event. There really will be something for everyone to enjoy on the day, so why not come along and enjoy the fun.”

People wishing to take part in the event can call Sean McCarthy at Shropshire Council on 01743 255933.
