Shropshire Council shows its support for Armed Forces Day

Shropshire Council have joined other local authorities across the country and raised the Armed Forces Day flag in a display of its support of Shropshire’s Armed Forces community.

As patrons of the Community Covenant, Shropshire Council supports Armed Forces Day each year – just one of many ways it demonstrates its strong relationship with Shropshire’s Armed Forces community.

Tim Barker, Shropshire Councillor responsible for the Armed Forces Covenant, said:

“Shropshire has a long history with the Armed Forces with several military bases being located in the county so Shropshire Council is delighted to offer its support for Armed Forces Day.”

David Fairclough, Armed Forces Covenant Co-ordinator for Shropshire Council, said:

“Shropshire Council signed the Armed Forces Community Covenant in 2012 and have supported Armed Forces Day ever since. The county has a strong military heritage so we’re delighted to be prolonging and strengthening our relationship with the county’s military community.

 

“Armed Forces Day provides people with the ideal opportunity to thank and show support to our Armed Forces community.”
