Changes to waste and recycling collection days over Easter

Related topics: Community / Partner organisations

Householders in Shropshire are being reminded that their waste and recycling will be collected a day later than normal in the week after Easter.

Collection crews will be working on Good Friday and waste will be collected as normal that day. However, as a result of the Easter Monday bank holiday, collections due to be made from Monday 28 March will be made a day later than normal. For example, collections that would normally be made on Monday will instead be made on Tuesday, continuing like this throughout the week, with collections that would normally be made on Friday instead made on Saturday.

Collections will return to normal on Monday 4 April. Any residents unsure about which day they should put out their waste or recycling are asked to check their collection calendar or check out their bin day on line using the online collection day finder at shropshire.gov.uk/binday.

Cat Slaytor, Communications Manager for Veolia said:

“We want to remind people that our collection crews will be coming one day later than normal following the Easter weekend. If anyone is unsure which day to put their bins, boxes or bags out, we ask them to check the collection calendar which will have been delivered to their house.

“We anticipate that a great deal of household and garden waste will be produced over the Easter bank holiday weekend. As well as reminding people about changes to their collection days we want to encourage them to recycle or compost as much as they can, rather than throwing it in the bin.”

Over the Easter weekend Shropshire’s five household recycling centres will be open from 9am to 5pm every day. The centres are located at Faraday Drive, Bridgnorth; Battlefield Enterprise Park, Shrewsbury; Long Lane Industrial Estate, Craven Arms; Mile Oak Industrial Estate, Oswestry and Waymills Industrial Estate, Whitchurch.

Please check your collection calendar for more information or visit shropshire.gov.uk/binday.
