Dinham Bridge daytime closure on 8 March for an inspection

Dinham Bridge in Ludlow will be closed on Tuesday 8 March 2016 between 9.30am and 4pm, for the bridge to be inspected.

The bridge carries the unclassified road over the River Teme in Ludlow.

The bridge must be closed to traffic while this inspection is being carried out as access equipment will be positioned on the road, and it is too narrow for the work to be carried out safely with the bridge open to traffic.

When the road is closed, traffic will be diverted locally through Ludlow and via the B4361 over Ludford Bridge.

Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will remain available at the bridge throughout the work.

Simon Jones, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for highways and transportation, said:

“It is appreciated that the need to close the bridge will cause some inconvenience. Everyone involved will do all they reasonably can to reopen it as soon as possible.”

Andy Boddington, local Shropshire Councillor for Ludlow North, said:-

“Dinham Bridge is one of our most treasured landmarks. It is vital that it is regularly inspected to ensure it has not suffered damage and it is safe for the thousands of people that use it throughout the year.”
