Consultation into reduced opening hours at Idsall Sports Centre

A six-week consultation starts today (29 February 2016) into a proposed reduction in opening hours at Idsall Sports Centre.

It is proposed that with effect from 1 September 2016, Idsall School will take over community use arrangements from Shropshire Council and continue to offer its sports centre facilities on the basis that the income generated covers the costs incurred.

In order for the school to successfully operate the centre a reduction in opening hours is proposed and Shropshire Council is seeking people’s views on this proposal. A short survey is now available and can be accessed by clicking here.

As a commissioning authority, Shropshire Council is happy to support this management transfer to ensure community use of the centre continues, especially in light of the current financial situation endured by local authorities.

You can also request a copy of the survey by sending an email to leisure@shropshire.gov.uk, or by writing to: Leisure Services, Shropshire Council, Shirehall, Abbey Foregate, Shropshire SY2 6ND.

A public meeting will be held on Monday 21 March at 6.00pm at Idsall School to discuss the future of the centre in more detail.
