Shropshire Council is happy to welcome the Rain or Shine Theatre Company to Severn Valley Country Park for a ‘one-night only’ performance of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol”. Rain or Shine Theatre Company are setting up stage at the country park on Sunday 3 January 2016 as part of their national winter tour.

In the spirit of pantomime, this festive performance follows the journey of the miser, Ebenezer Scrooge, as he travels with the Ghosts of Christmases Past, Present and Future. Taken back to view forgotten images of his life and what might have been, Scrooge discovers a hidden side to himself, and begins to realise the meaning of Christmas and a new understanding of humanity.

With surprises throughout, this adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic tale is set in Victorian costume with a cast of five playing a whole host of characters. You can be sure of an entertaining evening with a generous sprinkling of ‘Bah – Humbug!’

Susie Comaish, visitor centre manger, said:

“Rain or Shine Theatre Company will be bringing a bit of Christmas sparkle to Severn Valley Country Park. We are looking forward to their re-telling of this classic Christmas tale, and we invite our visitors to come along and enjoy the show.”

The performance will take place in the visitor centre, which will open for refreshments from 6.15pm. The performance starts 7pm and finishes by 8.45pm, and a 20 minute interval is included.

The performance is suitable for ages from 7 upwards. Booking is essential to avoid disappointment. Tickets are £10 adults, £6 children. Tickets are available by calling the visitor centre on 01746 781192 or contacting Rain or Shine direct on 0330 660 0541.
