Yeaton Bridge to be closed for essential repairs from 26 October

Yeaton Bridge will be closed from Monday 26 October 2015 to Friday 6 November 2015 to enable essential repairs to be carried out.

The bridge carries the Yeaton to Grafton road over the River Perry.

The work will involve taking down and rebuilding the downstream bridge parapet, which was damaged earlier this year by a passing vehicle.

The bridge must be closed to traffic while this work is being carried out, as it is too narrow for the work to be carried out safely with the bridge open to traffic.

When the road is closed, traffic will be diverted via Walford Heath and Leaton Heath.

Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will remain available at the bridge throughout the work.

Simon Jones, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for highways and transport said:

“It is appreciated that the bridge closure will cause some inconvenience, and everyone involved will do all that they reasonably can to reopen it as soon as possible.”
