Dogditch Brook Bridge near Cleestanton – temporary closure

Related topics: Community

Dogditch Brook Bridge near Cleestanton will be closed from Monday 19 October 2015 between the hours of 8am and 4pm for up to a week, to enable essential repairs to be carried out.

The bridge carries the unclassified road off the B4364, from the Roundthorne junction to Cleestanton, over the Dogditch Brook.

The work will involve the rebuilding of the upstream parapet, which was damaged by unknown vehicle impact earlier this year.

The bridge must be closed to traffic while the work is being carried out, as it is too narrow for the work to be carried out safely with the bridge open to traffic.

When the road is closed, traffic will be diverted locally via Bitterley.

Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will remain available at the bridge throughout the work.

Simon Jones, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for highways and transport, said:

“It is appreciated that the bridge closure will cause some inconvenience, and everyone involved will do all they reasonably can to reopen it as soon as possible.”
