Borlemill Bridge near Highley – road closure from 12 October 2015

Borlemill Bridge will be closed from Monday 12 October to Tuesday 20 October 2015 to enable essential repairs to be carried out.

The bridge carries the unclassified road from the Borlemill Junction of the B4555 to Netherton Lane over the Borle Brook near Highley.

During current ongoing maintenance and repair works to the bridge, it has become apparent that additional work is needed to rebuild the parapet wall to the south west corner of the bridge.

The bridge must be closed to traffic while this work is being carried out, as it is too narrow for the work to be carried out safely with the bridge open to traffic.

When the road is closed, traffic will be diverted via the B4555 road and Netherton Lane.

Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will remain available at the bridge throughout the works.

Simon Jones, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for highways and transport said:

“It is appreciated that the need to close the bridge, identified at short notice, will cause some inconvenience. The work is essential, and everyone involved will do all they reasonably can to reopen it as soon as possible.”
