Berrisford Bridge in Market Drayton temporary closure

Related topics: Community

Berrisford Bridge, which carries Berrisford Road over the River Tern in Market Drayton, will be closed from Monday 5 October 2015 until Wednesday 14 October 2015 to enable essential repairs to be carried out.

The work will involve the rebuilding of the bridge parapet, which was damaged earlier this year by a passing vehicle.

The bridge must be closed to traffic while the work is being carried out as it is too narrow for the work to be carried out safely with the bridge open to traffic.

When the road is closed, traffic will be diverted locally via Tyrley Lane and the A529.

Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will remain available at the bridge throughout the work.

Simon Jones, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for highways and transport, said:

“It is appreciated that the bridge closure will cause some inconvenience, and everyone involved will do all they reasonable can to reopen it as soon as possible.”
