Ticklerton Bridge closure from 17 August 2015

Ticklerton Bridge will be closed from Monday 17 August 2015 for up to 10 weeks to enable essential repairs to be carried out.

The bridge carries the Ticklerton to Acton Scott/Harton road over a tributary of the Eaton Brook.

The work will involve removing the existing bridge deck and constructing a new reinforced concrete deck. The deck will utilise the existing abutments in order to minimise disruption to the public.

The bridge must be closed to traffic while the work is being carried out, as it is too narrow for the work to be carried out safely with the bridge open to traffic.

When the road is closed, traffic will be diverted via Soudley.

Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will remain available at the bridge throughout the work.

Simon Jones, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for highways and transport said:

“It is appreciated that the bridge closure will cause some inconvenience, and everyone involved will do all that they reasonably can to reopen it as soon as possible.”
