National “Playday” (Wednesday 5 August 2015)  is a celebration of children’s right to play and a campaign that highlights the importance of play in children’s lives.

The ‘Play Week’ surrounding National Playday commences Monday 3 August 2015, and play events will be held at the following venues:-

  • Monday 3 August – Craven Arms Community Centre – 11am – 3pm
  • Tuesday 4 August – Deermoss Park, Whitchurch (opposite Home Bargains) – 11am – 3pm
  • Wednesday 5 August – Crown Meadow, Bridgnorth – 11am – 3pm
  • Thursday 6 August – The Centre, Oswestry – 11am – 3pm

‘Play Week’ is open to children of all ages and their families, and attendance is free. No pre-booking is necessary, so just turn up and play. Activities will include glitter tattooing, arts and crafts, sports, den building, games and much more.

Steve Charmley, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member responsible for leisure, said:-

“Playday is a great initiative to get children and communities out to play, whilst also finding out about other local services available to them. The campaign is all about making everyone feel welcome and part of their communities and to celebrate a child’s right to play.

“Playday has proven a popular and successful event over the last few years, so again leisure services shall be hosting events around the county for Shropshire residents to go along and join the fun.

At the events, Change 4 Life will also be highlighting their campaign “10-Minute Shake Up”. Working with Disney, the campaign has designed a pack which is to encourage children to have fun and move more this summer.
