Marking Learning Disability Week 2015.

News from our partner, Taking Part.

Taking Part is an independent registered charity providing a range of services to people with a learning difficulty including autism. It operates its services throughout Shropshire, including Telford and Wrekin and frequently takes on appropriate projects at a regional and national level.

It is currently seeking to recruit volunteer Trustees to its existing Board of Trustees. The Board are looking for volunteers who have a good business acumen, understanding of financial and organisational responsibility, accountability and viability when running a charity.

Julie Mellor, Taking Part’s Charity Manager, said:

“In return for volunteering your experience and time, you will be rewarded by knowing that you are supporting a client group of vulnerable people to be able to take their place in society equal to that afforded to all citizens.

“We are a local charity with an excellent and established reputation. Taking Part was founded in 1994 in Shrewsbury to serve the local community and over the years we have expanded to cover all the areas of the county including some of the most rural localities.

“We are looking for Trustees with a desire to strengthen our current Board of Trustees, support Taking Part with its development of services and assist with the strategic planning of the organisation.”

Commitment is likely to be around three to four hours a month, travel expenses can be paid. For an informal discussion contact Julie Mellor on 01952 597434 or email Julie.Mellor@takingpart.co.uk. To find out more about Taking Part click here
