Related topics: Community / Health

The report of the independent inquiry into infant cremations at Emstrey crematorium in Shrewsbury is to be published on Monday 1 June.

The inquiry was commissioned by Shropshire Council last year at the request of bereaved families to look into cases where no ashes were returned to families following the cremation of a baby or unborn child at Emstrey crematorium.

It has been led by Chairman David Jenkins, who has been supported by research assistant John Doyle.

Their report, containing conclusions and recommendations, will be published on the inquiry webpages at 2pm on Monday 1 June.

The agreed terms of reference for the inquiry can be found on the inquiry webpages, where two inquiry update letters sent from David Jenkins to Shropshire Council Chief Executive Clive Wright can also be found.

Further information

A press conference will also be held at 2pm on 1 June, at the Guildhall in Shrewsbury to announce the report’s findings.

Members of the press wishing to attend the press conference are asked to call 01743 252826, or email communications@ipande.co.uk.
