Boreton Road Bridge closure in mid-June

Related topics: Community

Boreton Road Bridge will be closed from Monday 15 June 2015 for up to five days, between the hours of 8am and 4pm, to enable essential repairs to be carried out.

The bridge carries the Boreton Road over the Cound Brook.

The work will involve erecting an approach fence to the upstream left, and repair of the bridge parapets.

The bridge must be closed to traffic while the work is being carried out, as it is too narrow for the work to be carried out safely with the bridge open to traffic.

When the road is closed, traffic will be diverted locally.

Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will remain available at the bridge throughout the work.

Simon Jones, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for highways and transport, said:

“Whilst it is appreciated that the road closure for these essential repairs will cause some disruption, please be assured that everyone involved will do all that they reasonably can to reopen the road as soon as possible.”

Tim Barker, local Shropshire Councillor for Burnell, said:-

“As Simon has said, the team will try and complete this work as soon as they can. Bridge maintenance is always disruptive, but it is also necessary to keep the structures safe for us all to use.”
