Walkerslow Bridge to close for repairs

Related topics: Community

Walkerslow Bridge, which carries the Oldfield to Wrickton road over the Rea Brook, is to be closed to traffic on Monday 2 March 2015 for four days between the hours of 8am and 4pm, to enable repairs to be carried out.

The work is general maintenance, including work to repair the damaged parapet and the approach fencing, and clearing of vegetation from the structure.

Unfortunately, due to the narrow nature of the bridge, it is not possible to carry out the proposed work safely without closing the bridge to traffic.

When the road is closed traffic will be diverted via Neenton on the B4364.

Access over the bridge for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will remain available throughout the work.

Claire Wild, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member responsible for bridge maintenance, said:

‘‘This repair work needs to be done.

‘’It is appreciated that the bridge closure will cause some inconvenience, and everyone involved will do all that they reasonably can to reopen it as soon as possible.”
