Planning issues on the agenda at meeting in Westbury

The first meeting of the newly-formed Loton, Longden, Ford and Rea Valley Local Joint Committee (LJC) takes place on Thursday 5 March 2015 at 7pm at Westbury Village Hall, when Shropshire Council planning officers will be on hand to answer questions about planning in the county.

The new LJC brings the electoral areas of Longden, Loton and Minsterley together, and is designed to give residents in the areas a forum to discuss local issues, and to develop projects in co-operation with Shropshire Council and other partners.

Staff from Shropshire Council’s planning team will be discussing how the development of the council’s SAMDev policies are progressing, and what the impact of the policies are on rural local communities.  They will also talk about the impact that the National Planning Policy Framework is having on Shropshire’s policies, and spend time answering questions from the committee and the public.

The LJC will also be discussing how to allocate funding to youth activities in the area, which can support a range of activities in the towns and villages served by the LJC.

Roger Evans, Chair of the LJC, and Shropshire Councillor for Longden, said:

“This is the first LJC of this wider area to be held.  We do want to hear of issues that concern local residents.  This meeting will have a number of interesting speakers to address some of the concerns that have been expressed to us.  Please come along to hear about and ask your questions on current local issues.  Items down for discussion include planning policies, youth activities in the area, plus initial thoughts on the future of the library service.  This is your chance to voice any concerns you have.”

The public are welcome to take part in the discussions and ask the speakers and councillors questions.  The meeting venue is Westbury Village Hall, Hinwood Road, SY5 9QU.
