Shropshire Council has awarded international infrastructure and business services group Mouchel a three-year Highways and Transport Engineering Consultancy Contract valued at £3m per year,  with the option to extend for a further four years.

Mouchel has provided highways consultancy services to Shropshire Council since 2000. The initial contract was to provide core highways, bridges and traffic engineering services. This scope of work has grown over the years and the most recently won contract includes a range of additional services including flood and water management, highways development control and asset management.

Claire Wild, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for highways and transport, said:

“We are delighted to announce that Mouchel has been appointed as our service provider again following a rigorous prequalification and tendering process.  We are looking forward to working with them under this new contract to continue delivering good customer and community service outcomes.”

Jeremy Wray, Mouchel’s Operating Group Director for Highways and Transportation, said:

“This is a significant win for Mouchel.  Securing a local highways authority contract for a third time in succession is almost unheard of and recognises our team’s great business relationships with Shropshire Council together with their commitment to collaborative working to fulfil the expectations of residents and businesses within the county.”

Work under the new contract will begin in April 2015.
