Come along to the Good Companions Lunch Club in Ludlow

Shropshire Council is inviting people who live with dementia and their carers along to its Good Companions Lunch Club on Tuesday 10 February 2015 from 11am to 2pm at Helena Lane in Ludlow.

The club, which takes place every second Tuesday of the month, offers people a chance to take part in a number of activities, have lunch and make friends with others in their community.

It follows a very successful first Good Companions Lunch Club, which took place in November 2014, when 11 people plus two of their carers enjoyed socialising over a lovely cooked meal.

They are being organised by Shropshire Council in partnership with Healthy Friendships, Hands Together Ludlow and Helena Lane daycare team.

Lee Chapman, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for adult services – transformation and safeguarding, said:

“The club is open to local people and provides a friendly space in which people who experience dementia can catch up with friends, or meet new ones. It’s a great way for people to be part of their community, and remain as independent as possible.”

Contact Helena Lane 01584 871400 for more details and referrals for the lunch club.

The Care Act will come into effect from 1 April 2015. Shropshire Council is already working toward the approaches described within the Act, so many will see little change in the service they receive.
