Good Companions Lunch Club proves to be a success

Related topics: Community

The first Good Companions Lunch Club, held recently at Helena Lane in Ludlow, has proved to be a huge success – with 11 people plus two of their carers enjoying socialising over a lovely cooked meal.

The club meet is the first of many.  They are being organised by Shropshire Council in partnership with Healthy Friendships, Hands Together Ludlow and Helena Lane daycare team.

The club is open to local people, providing a friendly space in which people who experience dementia can catch up with friends, or meet new ones.

Lee Chapman, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for adult services – transformation and safeguarding, said:

“It’s fantastic to hear that this first club has been so well attended – it’s a promising start.  We’ve had some great feedback too.

“The next one is taking place on Tuesday 16 December from 11am until 2pm.  We hope to see you there.”

This club is just one of many things happening at Helena Lane.

Lee Chapman said:

“We will be holding an open day from 1pm until 4.30pm on Friday 5 December so that people can find out for themselves what services, space and equipment this excellent community building has to offer.

“Through working with many of our partners over the last few months, the building now houses, amongst others: the Vision Technology and Training Shropshire assessment centre, an NHS memory clinic and fortnightly People2People clinics.

“Please come along and see what is available on your doorstep.”
