“Secure Your Apprenticeship” event – back by popular demand

A popular apprenticeship event, run by Shropshire Council’s County Training, will be taking place again later this month, due to popular demand.

The training provider is running another of its “Secure Your Apprenticeship” events on Tuesday 18 November 2014 at Theatre Severn in Shrewsbury at 5.30pm, after the session in October 2014 was overwhelmed with people looking to attend.

The organisers are encouraging anyone interested in finding out more about the apprenticeship programme to come along.  Due to high levels of interests at previous similar events, anyone that would like to attend is advised to book a place by calling 0345 678 9023.

This ‘not to be missed’ event promises a wide variety of opportunities for all young people (regardless of academic abilities) leaving school or college in 2015, as well as 16 to 24 year olds looking for work and training.  County Training also offer the pre-apprenticeship programme “Advance”, which has been designed for those individuals who are leaving school but who are not yet ready for an apprenticeship or college.  The Advance programme works with young people to improve their English and Maths levels, as well as improve upon their confidence and gain valuable work experience, which as a result will prepare all learners to progress either to start at college or to gain an apprenticeship placement.

Parents and carers are welcome to attend the event to gain advice and guidance on this post-16 option, and find out about the range of apprenticeships, work and training opportunities available for their sons and daughters.

Ann Hartley, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for children’s services – transformation and safeguarding, said:

“The Secure Your Apprenticeship events encourage local young people to take control of their future and to see that an apprenticeship could be the right path for them, as apprenticeships are becoming an increasingly popular method of gaining a secure footing on the career ladder.”

Not only will considering their personal aims and aspirations increase confidence among those attending, but there will be real opportunities to secure job interviews or places on work-related training programmes.  All those who would like to come along will need to book a place, and will receive a free pack with information on career options and a handy  booklet full of hints and tips on CV writing, interview techniques, speculative letters and what employers want.
