Shropshire FA, in partnership with Shropshire Council, offered schoolpupils who took part in Shropshire’s annual Kick it Out activities, the chance to win two tickets to the England v Slovenia Euro 2016 qualifier at Wembley on Saturday 15 November 2014.  The lucky winner is Tom Walker, aged 12, from Sundorne School and Sports College in Shrewsbury.

Mike Owen, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member responsible for equalities, said:

“This is the 10th year that Kick it Out (formally Kick Racism Out of Football) activities have been organised in Shropshire.  We are delighted that young people are learning about discrimination and its impact on individuals and the community, by using football as the vehicle for communication.  We are also happy to be able to offer such brilliant prizes with the help of our partner, Shropshire FA, and big congratulations to the competition winner, Tom Walker.”

Still to come, as part of this year’s campaign, is the Kick It Out Cup on Sunday 16 November 2014 at the Shrewsbury Sports Village. The Kick It Out Cup is a fun, six-a-side, mixed football tournament that takes place on the Sports Village’s artificial pitches and is open to all adult teams.  If you would like to enter a team of work colleagues, friends or family, please contact Steve Cunningham: steve.cunningham@shropshire.gov.uk or 01743 252361 to register your team.

The tournament fee is £20 per team, and all funds raised via the tournament go directly to Fairness Respect Equality Shropshire for anti-discrimination work in Shropshire.
