Essential repairs to Hayes Lane Bridge near Alberbury

Related topics: Community

Hayes Lane Bridge will be restricted to traffic from Monday 8 December to Wednesday 24 December 2014, to enable essential repairs to be carried out to it.

The bridge carries the unclassified road over a small tributary of the River Severn off the B4393 near Alberbury.

The work will involve the repair of damage to the downstream end and upstream end of the bridge.

Due to the narrow nature of the bridge, traffic will be restricted Mondays to Fridays between the hours of 8am and 4pm to enable the work to be carried out safely, but access for emergency vehicles will be made available at all times.

Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will remain available at the bridge throughout the work.

Claire Wild, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member responsible for bridge maintenance, said:-

‘‘This is essential work which needs to be carried out.

‘’It is appreciated that the bridge closure will cause some inconvenience, and everyone involved will do all that they reasonably can to reopen it as soon as possible.”
