Ivy House Bridge to close for essential repairs

Ivy House Bridge, which carries the Pentre to Pen-y-Bryn road, is to be closed to traffic on Monday 27 October 2014 for up to a week to enable repairs to be carried out to it.

The work will involve general maintenance and rebuilding the bridge’s partially collapsed training wall to the upstream end.

Unfortunately, due to the narrow nature of the bridge, it is not possible to carry out the proposed work safely without closing the bridge to traffic.

Access over the bridge for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will remain available throughout the proposed work.

When the bridge is closed, traffic will be diverted via Pen-y-Bryn and Ifton.

Claire Wild, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for highways and transport, said:

‘‘This is essential work which needs to be carried out.

‘’It is appreciated that the bridge closure will cause some inconvenience, and everyone involved will do all that they reasonably can to reopen it as soon as possible.”
