Embankment stabilisation work at Glazeley Bridge, which carries the B4363 road over the Borle Brook, is scheduled to start in November 2014.

The verge has been washed out leaving large voids beneath the existing safety barrier.  The work will involve providing a new safety barrier supported by a shallow concrete retaining wall in the verge at the bridge’s south-eastern corner.

The proposed work is scheduled to start on Monday 3 November 2014 and it is estimated to that it will take up to five weeks to complete.

When the work is under way, the road will remain open under 24-hour traffic light control.

Claire Wild, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for highways, and responsible for bridge maintenance, said:

“The repairs are much-needed and will make the road much safer for road users.  I’d like to thank road users for their understanding while the work takes place.”
