Whitchurch Skills and Jobs Fair on Friday 26 September

Related topics: Community / Partner organisations

The first ever Whitchurch Skills and Jobs Fair is taking place on Friday 26 September 2014 from 10am until 3pm.

Sir John Talbot’s School are hosting the Fair in the Sports Hall and everyone is welcome to come along to find out what’s on offer.

Whether you are seeking a job, looking for something new to do, or just want to change your career, this event is for you.  Jobcentre Plus will have a board of all current and Christmas vacancies available in the area, and will be on hand to offer advice.

Many different training and apprenticeship agencies will be attending, so if you need specific qualifications to follow a career path, these people can help you too.  Large and small local employers, as well as the Army, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force, will be able to help you with finding out how to gain a career locally or join the forces to travel the world.  Shropshire Fire Service will be able to help you find out how to become a Retained Firefighter, and Voluntary Outreach will be on hand to help you get work experience.

Local Shropshire Councillor Peggy Mullock said:

“Owen Paterson MP will be opening the Skills and Jobs Fair in Whitchurch and has greatly supported the event so far.  We aim to help as many people as possible, whether they want a job, to find out about a new career path, or discover what training they can undertake to help them get a better job, this event is for everyone.  So I look forward to seeing many people come through the doors to find out what’s on offer.”

Whitchurch Skills and Jobs Fair opens at 10am; people attending can use the SJT Leisure Centre entrance where there is plenty of parking.  The Fair will run throughout the day, until 3pm, to enable everyone to drop in to see what is on offer.
