In celebration of Recovery Month 2014, Shropshire Drug and Alcohol Team have organised a Recovery Event to celebrate and congratulate the hard work that goes into making recovery possible.

The Recovery Event will be held in Shrewsbury, on Friday 19 September at The Gateway, Shrewsbury from 10am to 2pm.

The Shropshire Recovery Event offers people the opportunity to find out more about recovery from drug and alcohol misuse and what it could mean for you.

In accordance with the celebratory atmosphere, refreshments will be available, along with guest speakers and the screening of the movie ‘Anonymous People.’

The role of Shropshire Drug and Alcohol Team is to provide support to ensure drug and alcohol misuse in the county is minimised through pooled resource investment, multi-agency working and the commissioning of evidence based services.

Councillor Karen Calder, Shropshire Council Cabinet member for Health, said:

“It’s great that Shropshire holds events like this that raise awareness of the troubles people face and the support that is available help them.

“Being aware of the success people have experienced through Shropshire recovery initiatives, should I hope, encourage those going through such issues, to come forward for support.

“I would encourage anybody that is, or knows somebody who is experiencing issues with drug or alcohol misuse to attend the event.”
