Free workshops to help businesses make the most of online opportunities

The Optimising Business Broadband (OBB) project will offer local businesses a unique opportunity to benefit from free expert advice funded by ERDF (European Regional Development Fund). The OBB project will ensure Small – Medium Enterprises (SMEs) take advantage of the new fibre optic broadband infrastructure that is being rolled out in the Shropshire Council and Staffordshire County Council areas. The project’s key aim is to support local businesses to increase their competitiveness through the use of advanced information and communication technologies.
The project will deliver a range of free support, from local events (drop in sessions at village halls; demo’s at conferences and exhibitions) to practical learning (webinars, demonstrations of technology, training courses) and face-to-face intensive support (1:1 diagnostics, specialist ICT business advice) tailored to your business needs.

The main showcase events (listed in bold) will run from 8.00am – 11.45am and will feature experienced guest speakers (Grant Leboff, James Pennington), who will address the challenges of:
- Generating Business Growth through Digital
- Technology Advice your Business needs to Grow
All other events will run from 8.30am – 11.30am and will cover:
- Social Media and the secrets of online marketing
- Cloud computing and how it can reduce IT costs and boost productivity
- Other support available for your business
- Guest speakers at these events will be Martin King-Turner and Gareth Edwards

The new fibre network
