Shropshire Towns and Rural Housing and residents of Yorkfields are preparing to don the novelty aprons and cook up a barbequed treat for the people of Oswestry to help raise funds for Cancer Research on Friday 22 August from 12 noon. The BBQ will be held at Yorkfields Sheltered Housing Scheme, Liverpool Road West, Oswestry and will also have a raffle with prizes donated by local businesses. Everyone and anyone are invited to join in with the day’s festivities, whether you’re looking to learn more about sheltered housing or just there for a burger in the afternoon there will be something for you.

Sue Adams, Managing Director for Shropshire Towns and Rural Housing, hopes the event will bring the community together. Sue said:

“What a great way to get together with friends and neighbours, enjoy some lunch and raise funds and awareness for such a great cause.”

Vince Hunt, Shropshire Council local member for Oswestry West, will be attending the event and said:

“I will be going along to the BBQ, both as the local member and as a board member of STAR Housing, and I’m looking forward to joining the residents and others to support this cause. Well done to them, and I would encourage anybody else to come and support this.”

Shropshire Towns and Rural Housing Ltd took responsibility for the management of all 4,200 Shropshire Council owned homes in the Oswestry and Bridgnorth areas in April 2013. The organisation manages homes and neighbourhoods, collects rent, orders repairs and makes improvements to all housing.
